i just got back from kavos in corfu today and im really worried about my ears. its a proper party resort and on the first night i went into a night club where the music was so so loud. i was dancing next to the speaker cos i was so drunk i didnt care! anyway when i came out i had the worst feeling in the world. my ears were ringing so incredibly loud that i found it hard to hear anything else.all the noises were so dull. it was like i was in a bubble. i went bk to the hotel and tried to sleep it off. however when i woke up in the morning it was still the same. it was that bad i cried my eyes out. i decided to c the doctor. she sed she couldnt see any problem when she looked inside them but i think she was only lookin for infection. anyway 8 days on and its still just as bad. iv learnt to hear people talking over the ringing but its difficult. when i hear low noises they sort of buzz wierdly. also if theres a noise and i didnt see where it came from then i dont know where its from eg when someone walked past my sunbed and i had my eyes closed thought it came from behind me when it was actualy in front. another thing.. it feels like i can feel the sound waves in the air? its so weird.

i tried to find some info on it and think it might be tinnitus? but im not sure. anyway its worried me cos it sed that damage can be perminant if i repeatedly hear the loud noise and i went out every night that week. i didnt want to ruin our holiday but really worried now.

please if anyone knows anything that might help me to understand then let me know. this is so upsetting. Jen

  1. There is  a noise induced hearing lose due to steady state noise that damages the hearing nerve.   You describe a set of events that would make me suspicious of nerve damage to your ears, bilaterally.  Have an audiologist to test you for loss of hearing in the speech range of 500 to 3000 hertz, a speech reception test, and report your "cricket sounds" which would be the tinnitus for which you have symptoms.  Good luck.  P.S.  The classic hearing loss here should be bilateral and equal in each ear.  Or almost equal.
