05 Chevy Impala, 53k miles.

Now that the belt isn't the problem, what else could it be, Alternator Pulley Bearing, Radiator Fan Bearing, or Water Pump?

Once the car is started it makes the noise but as I drive it continues for about 15 minutes, even after the car is warmed up, if anyone can help me out w/ this, I would greatly appreciate it.

If I have to take it to get replaced I'd like to have some idea of what I'm talking about , bc I know how mechanics can be.

  1. most of the time the idler or tensioner pulleys fail first with belt off each pulley should be spun by hand to feel for any rough spots on the ball bearings inside the pulleys.

  2. Remove the belt and inspect the idler pulley. Could be it is bad.

  3. there is a belt tensioner that keeps the serpentine belt tight, have the tensioner checked out, the spring could be getting weak and letting the new serpentine belt slip a little.

  4. what brand of belt did you use ? I have see some brands squeak more then others. I prefer to use goodyear gatorback belts
