I was on sertraline 50mg a day for Post Natal Depression (Post Par-tum) from December 07 until 4 weeks ago, when my dose was reduced to 50mg every second day until i took my last one on Thursday of last week, but since yesterday (Sunday) i have been experiencing dizziness, and light headedness and am wondering if this is my body reacting to the drugs withdrawal? I have spoken to my GP about it this morning and she has suggested i try and work through it and not start taking the drug again, but that if it does not stop by Thursday then they may have to do other tests?, has anyone experienced similar? I am worrying about it, as i am frightened to drive with the kids in the car or go for a walk incase i pass out (as this is how it feels at times)

  1. Discontinuation syndrome of ssri's is something that occurs, but rarely does it occur lasting over 3 weeks.  Can your GP give you something like meclizane for the dizziness?  I have no idea what tests they could do.  I would try not to go on it again if possible.  Maybe your doc can give you some 0.25mg xanex, it is an anti-anxiety med but is prescribed for dizziness too.  I would think that your symptoms would not be lasting much longer.
