Service- Is this PastPerfect in London`s Vocabulary??

Being up and dressed and on the streets by 7am (to lead the walks which I run) I am in a position to observe London`s dimininishing attitude toward service.

Most of the fast food places which are supposed to open early are not open and those that are often don`t have the menu they`re supposed to have.

At McDonalds this morning I asked for a toasted English muffin. I got the muffin but when I asked for some butter I was told they had run out. I asked for margarine. None available.

I left the shop.

Returning, I said I`d have Philadelphia on it.

The man who was serving said rudely, `Are you sure you won`t turn that down too?`

The point is he should have mentioned in the first instance they DID have Philadelphia. But why they were out of butter, margarine and jam is anyone`s guess.

Inefficiency combined with rudeness, no intimidation, simply does not work.

What has been your experience???

  1. give them a break they are humans too with emotions if they are rude maybe they are under high stress..is that all your life is about what else do you do during the day?

Personally I would try to do my best and keep my job but I know for some people that wouldn't be good enough..some people complain when you are stressed out. So what if there wasn't butter ..I wouldn't obsess over it and if I really did I'd go to a d**n supermarket and paste it on the thing live with what life throws at you can do attitude instead of complain at every given opportunity!

  2. Hi, haven't eaten at fast food places in London...I have in Calgary and other places on the North American continent, and I have never had your experience of them running out of staples, nor have I ever experienced rudeness, yes some poor service at times, and some undercooked chicken burgers at A&W's that were owned and operated by Asians...perhaps they were trying to save some money on energy...of course, I never returned to those particular places again, and they were in Calgary.  I would say that the most pleasant service providers here in Calgary fast foods have been by Filipinos...they are warm and always have a smile.

Service is key to success in the fast food industry...it is so competitive...there are so many places, and they pretty much all offer the same choices.

  3. service is not a word in the English language anymore, i walk off if a shop assistant or waiter is rude to me or gives me totally substandard service. And if its really bad as it often is complain to the management.
