Services v Jammu & Kashmir – Ranji Trophy, 2012/13 (Group C) – Match Update – Services win by 5 wickets
An all-round effort from Services enabled the team to clinch a 5-wicket victory over Jammu & Kashmir in their Group C match during the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780.
J+K won the toss and decided to bat first, but Suraj Yadav (11.5-1-35-4), Nishan Singh (10-4-26-3), and Shadab Nazar (8-1-24-2) launched a fierce assault which saw the J+K batsmen faltering under the pressure.
Only five batsmen in total succeeded in registering double-digit scores, and none of these managed to contribute anything substantial. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parvez-Rasool-Zarghav-c80789 (12), wicketkeeper batsman Obaid Haroon (17), Mohammed Mudhasir (13), and Ram Dayal (18*)
all failed to capitalise on their starts, and the team eventually finished, all out, at a dismal first innings total of 85.
The start of Services’ first innings was hardly more promising, and J+K’s Ram Dayal (24.2-6-71-5) and Adil Rishi (5-1-5-2) made valiant attempts to keep the opposing batsmen in check. Top-order batsmen Pratik Desai (4), skipper Soumik Chatarjee (0), and
Ansuhl Gupta (2) were all lacklustre, as were Soumya Swain (14), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yashpal-Singh-c98226 (8), and Avishek Sinha (11) from the middle order.
Rajat Paliwal (120) and wicketkeeper Sarabjit Singh (40), however, revived the innings to a great degree, and while tail-enders Suraj Yadav (4), Nazar (6), and Nishan Singh (2*) were all insipid, the team managed to reach 221 before they were all out.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Dev-Singh-c1570 (52), Manik Gupta (58), and Ram Dayal (62) enabled the team
to reach 269, and set Services a final 134-run target.
While Dayal (19-5-36-2) put in valiant efforts to defend the low total, his lone attempts were not enough to keep J+K in the running. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pratik-Desai-c82588 (3), Soumik Chatarjee (1), and Ansuhl Gupta (0) were all dismissed for paltry scores, but Swain (22), Yashpal
Singh (61), and Paliwal (47*) chipped in with a few small contributions which got the team over the finish line, enabling them to reach 134 with 5 wickets still remaining.
