  1. Overhand- its all in your toss. You need to make sure you get it right in front of you but high enough to wear your arm is all the way outstretched.

    Toss, step, hit.

it takes practice, girl!! don't give up!!

you can practice your toss in front of your mirror, if that helps.

  2. My friendd is the same. If your serving underhand, try turning to your side and hit the ball at a different angle. My friend tried this way and got really good. Also, try to find your power spot. Most people hit with their palms, but I hit with my wrist and the ball goes farther.

And if your serving overhand, I cant really help you cause my overhand serve isnt really that good.

  3. If you're serving overhand, I'd recommend just hitting the ball as hard as you can.  See if you can knock it out of the back end.  What I find is that people worry about hitting it to far without ever knowing what it takes to hit it that far.

Once you've hit a few out, it's easier to dial it back a little an put it in the court.

For an underhand serve, if you've got enough on it to make it over the net, aim a little higher.  If you are just coming up short, same thing as I said about overhand serves.

  4. it might help if u through the ball up and when it gets to the right spot ball ur fist and hit it with force. i know ur suppose to use ur palm but using ur fist gives of more forde.

  5. THIS WILL GET YOUR SERVES OVER.

1; put your back into it. i can't stress that enough!! if you are only using your arms, it gets you NOWHERE. use all of your back muscles.

2; keep your toss nice and high, and toss it in a direct vertical line above your shoulder. height? about two balls above your head.

3; sounds corny, but aim for someone in the back row on the other side and imagine it going over as you serve.

4; strong hand, strong arm, strong shoulders, strong back. think strength.

5; finally, relax, dont think about it so much.

    hope this helps=]

  6. tighten your wrist up when you hit the ball. (its the opposite of what you do when you throw a softball/baseball.) put your whole body into it. gain momentum by taking a few steps back and then walking forward then toss, then hit. make sure you hit the ball very hard, and get a good toss!

    hope this helps!!!

  7. wel if u r serving overhand make sure ur toss is rite in front of ur hitting arm and reach the ball @ the highest point possible so u can smack it down...... and just hit it as hard as u can

if u r serving underhand..... wel i cant imagine ne1 not being able 2 serve underhand but if u cant..... keep the arm that is holding the ball straight...... also the other arm must b straight wen u hit it.......try 2 keep the ball as low as possible......and just hit it as hard as u can

  8. Wow i know how you feel i am a bond too! well i am 14 and have been playing vball for 9 years.  what i do to serve that ball is do a 2 step toss.  i start out with the ball in forn of me and i am on my left foot.  Then when i toss the ball up i shift my weight on my right foot and when the ball comes down to about a foot over my arm i get my right arm ready to hit it.  I open my hand all the way and strighten my arm.  then go all the way through and hit the ball hard.

If you are serving underhand then all you need to do is look at the ball close your fist and swing!

  9. some tips: start serving from the 10 ft line and try to serve it over the net into the last 5 ft of the court, sometimes it helps players mentally to see that its not that hard to serve deep, and then just keep backing up. second, make sure your toss is landing just in front of your right foot (assuming you are right handed), this way you are sure that you are not getting your serve in just because your toss is off. a bad toss = a bad serve. another thing, its good to exagerate opening your hips, meaning your hips would be facing a sideline instead of the net. Opening your hips and turning them while you are serving gives younger girls with less upper body strength alot more strength. and the last thing I am going to say is make sure you are not doing a walk through style serve, the simpler your serve the better it will be. PS serving is all mental

  10. flatten your hand throw the ball up catch it at a high point hitting it with the palm of your hand thats where all the power is in your hand

swing kinda hard but not to hard becase then it will go straight to the ground because your just learning

  11. well the main thing is to watch your hand hit the ball...this is VERY important cuz when you dont then it hits at wrong angles and goes wild. one more thing is to put your body into it, dont just rely on your arm to do it all. I am about 5'3 and i dont have any problem with getting over cuz i put all my body into it and watch my hand. Everyone has the potential to be a good server, you just have to find out what works for you. Good Luck and Keep Practicing!

  12. Heathen is right. See how much it takes to knock it over the end line, then simply tune it down. It really is that easy to work on

  13. pretend it's somebody you hate. It helps me!

  14. Serving is based on how you hit the ball. The shorter you happen to be, the more you need to make contact under the ball. HIt the ball hard and put your whole body. You shouldn't be standing in one place.  The momentum you cause by putting your whole body into it, will cause you to "fall" into the court. Don't be afraid to hit the back wall in practice. It's easier to tume it down then hit harder and harder.

If this doesn't work, have your coach watch you specifically during practice and utilize their advice.Good Luck!

  15. wut i do is i practice tossing the ball because that is technically the most important thing bout ur serve.so try tossing it a bit higher then smacking it kind of lyk spiking

  16. serving overhand at first seems like a difficult task. I am not that tall, but i have conquered the ominous overhanded serve. Mostly it involves good footwork. If you dont have consistent footwork, you cant see what you are doing wrong when you do mess up. Practice a 2 step serive about 4 feet away from the line. Lean back with your arm in the hitting position, and when you place the ball, the area on the ball that you hit plays a role. To hit a short serve, stop your arms rotation before you swing all the way through. To hit a longer and stronger serve, toss the ball shorter and extend your arm higher to gain more momentum.

  17. throw the ball up higher and make contact with it sooner rather than later...

try practising on ur own whenevr u have time...

i was a natural but i now have trouble adding spin...

hit the ball with an open hand around the middle of the ball

  18. Hi, I had some real trouble on it too! I played on a mixed team and overarm serves went into the net 75% of the time.

If you give yourself plenty of space at the line, so you can take a step, great. Its not just about the power, but the technique. Throw the ball in the air, have your arm behind you, and quickly hit the ball with the flat of your hand while taking a step forward. The momentum of your step, and the speed you hit the ball will all help.

I also trained at a womans hight net, because its lower, and when you start to be able to do it, you get more confidant. Now I would say they go over the net 90% of the time!!
