Set up a lan using a ethernet cable on a xp and vista computer and neither connected to the internet

so its just a straight connection from one computer to the other, but on the xp one, a tried to connect to the internet message comes up every 60 seconds interupting our game play. does anyone know whats causing this message to appear as neither one is connected to the internet just to each other

it thinks that you are conneted to a server connect your other pc to a network with internet connection and share the insternet on it

Try this:

Start| Control Panel|  Internet Options| Connections

Click on   "Never dial a connection"
