Seth Jones comes back to US National junior evaluation camp stronger this time
Seth Jones, who is being considered as, would-be top pick of the 2013 NHL draft and developing into a big player, had attended last year’s US National junior evaluation camp and now he is back there again, this time much bigger and stronger.
Last year, he was also a part of the US National junior under-17 and under-18 teams representing them in world hockey challenge under-17 and world junior championships for under-18 respectively. At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, this year he was gained some weight,
has got taller and also got experience to make him a much better player.
Speaking to NHL.com, Jim Johannson, general manager of the Team USA, had many good things to say about Jones. In his opinion Jones has become mature and physically more developed. He talked about his shots getting harder and his physical presence getting
better as he said,
"He's physically more developed, but I think he's a much more mature player on the ice. I think there's a little more calm to his game, but there's a little more physical dominance to his game. You're getting the calm of more experience, but you're getting
a much more physical presence in everything he does. The passes are harder, the shots are harder, the strides have more strength behind it.
48-year-old Jim Johansson, who himself was a part of Team US that played in 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympic Games and also represented them in 1992 World Men’s Ice Hockey Championships, indicated that Seth has got many unique talents as well as he added,
“He's becoming an extremely well-rounded player who happens to be 6-foot-4 and agile and all those things. There's so many unique talents he has.”
Plano, Texas born defenseman started his career with Dallas Stars under-18 team in midget league and soon got a call from U.S junior international side in 2010. After putting up a great show for Team US in junior international matches, son of former National
Basketball Association (NBA) player Popeye Jones, Seth would most probably play for Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
