Seth Killian leaves Capcom for Sony – Video Games Update
Capcom’s Strategic Marketing director and the co-founder of the EVO fighting game tournament, Seth Killian, has announced that he has left Capcom and joined Sony’s Santa Monica Studios.
Killian has joined Sony as the lead game designer for the External group at Santa Monica studios. The reason for the move is pretty clear as Sony had announced its own entry into the fighting game genre with Sony’s All Stars Battle Royale which is a crossover
fighter ‘heavily’ inspired by Nintendo’s Super Smash series.
"Fighting games are very close to my heart, and as someone that’s spent much of my life with traditional fighters, All-Stars has been a great opportunity to take a step back and rethink fighting fundamentals from the ground up. The entire team was put together
from scratch to create this game, and they are loaded with fighting game superstars," said Seth Killian on the official Playstation blog.
It seems that Sony is taking its entry into the fighting genre seriously as they seem to be pulling back no punches with Sony Santa Monica, one of the company’s best first party studios and the developers behind the popular God of War games, helping out
with the game’s development.
Killian’s move to Sony Santa Monica will also leave the fans wondering if he will be helping with the multiplayer in the upcoming entry in the God of War franchise, God of War: Ascension. Sony will be present at the upcoming EVO tournament, showcasing All
Stars Battle Royale and what better way to promote the game then to have the co-founder of the expo at your game booth.
Killian claims that Sony fans are going to love the service in Battle Royale as it includes all of their favourite Sony characters with a lot of attention to detail surrounding the character design, moves and the levels. “You only have to walk through SuperBot’s
studio and see all the staff being scolded to stop playing their own game and get back to work to know that they’ve really got something special cooking,” claimed Killian commenting on how absolutely fun the game is to play.
Sony’s All Stars Battle Royale will be playable at the EVO fighting tournament this weekend as Sony makes its first ever appearance at the event.
