Seth Mitchell-Chazz Witherspoon determined to nail each other in the 12-round showdown – Boxing News
Seth Mitchell, the surging young American heavyweight, is all set and ready to co-headline the Bernard Hopkins-Chad Dawson pay-per-view and will enter the ring for a 12-round non-title clash against more experienced fellow countryman Chazz Witherspoon, on
April 28, 2012.
The ring for the bout will be stretched at Boardwalk Hall situated in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States and the event will be televised live on HBO, Main Event, and Sport 1 channels.
The showdown will be headlined by the most anticipated WBC light heavyweight title bout between Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson. Seth and Chazz recently met at the pre-bout press conference and shared their thoughts about the upcoming Saturday night extravaganza.
Seth, 25, is seriously overshadowed by Chazz’s hefty resume and experience. The 29-year-old Virginian has been in a total 25 bouts and boasts an undefeated win streak with 24 wins.
He has just collected one draw decision in his career against Alvaro Morales, the man with whom Seth later on ended the feud after collecting a unanimous decision in his favour.
A bird’s eye view of Seth’s resume shows that he has put forth the boxing fanatics a flawless performance and duly resides at the 12th position in the world rankings. During the press conference, Seth, also known as ‘The Mayhem’, did not show any kind of
intimidation rather was confident and optimistic about his Chazz-engagement.
Seth commented, “Nothing spectacular sticks out in my mind about Chazz. He is a solid fighter but he has heart and he comes to fight. I think Chazz is a fundamentally sound fighter. He throws a good jab and he stays busy. He throws punches in bunches.”
At the same time, Chazz, also known as ‘The Gentleman’, also put forth his thoughts and said that he will optimally use his experience factor in outwitting Seth. Witherspoon remarked, “This is a fight that can move me to the Top 10, so this is very important
to me too. There is a lot of room to grow, but there is enough Chazz Witherspoon to be victorious Saturday night. I have more experience than the person I am fighting. I believe I hold the experience edge over Seth.”
Chazz, 30, has been in a total 32 bouts and has lost just two. He has collected 22 of his total wins by knockout as compared to Seth’s 18. The odds are slightly in favour of the Pennsylvanian since he has a better knockout ratio, the height advantage, and
the experience factor in his gear.
But still Seth is a lethal pugilist who is recently coming from a second-round knockout win over Timur Ibragimov and boasts wins over names such as Evans Quinn, Charles Davis, Taurus Sykes and others and therefore can create a huge upset.
