  1. patience........set your postion so you can be ready for a bad bump and be ready to save and set off of bad hits

  2. Talk to your team and, if it is too low just bump. I would suggest talking to your coach, maybe you guys should try some different drills for practice.

  3. Work with your team captain to help you become the focus-point of the team.

If your teammates did not want to show respect (to you) and wanted to pass to their preferred setter other than you, it is your problem (I wish this is not the case).

If they wanted to pass to you but they have no control regarding where the ball would be passed, it is their problem, and you have to help them.

You need to solve your problems with the team, as a team.

If I were you, I would work harder to brush up my skills, try to get under every single pass and complete a "perfect" (or call it "good enough") pass. You will get to a higher level by dealing with bad pass, and earn respect by working hard and "covering" mistakes made by other players.

The key to a setter's success is quickness, footwork, and soft-fingers/wrist.

  4. You need to talk to your team about it!

  5. I know exactly how you feel, because it's what is happening to me.  Then they give you a crappy dig, and you can't get it to the hitter then it makes YOU look bad for not setting it "right".  It is SO not your fault.  Just remember to hustle and give it your best shot, because that is what makes a model volleyball player.  If they don't get Any better, talk to you coach about who should be in the back row when you are setting.  I know it gets frustrating, but if you can live through it, it WILL get better. :D

  6. Tell your team.

Telling your coach is fine, but my coach always said that it's better for teammates to tell each other things then for the coach to keep repeating it over and over.

Don't do it in a negative way, just say out loud.."Come on guys, you can pass it higher" or "Right here, up high"

    Encourage them

  7. tell your team coach and she'll talk about that at practice

  8. I'm a setter too, and I know exactly where you're coming from. First of all, you need to get over the fact that your teammates can't pass the ball pefectly. Have your coach or someone at home toss the ball to you so it's not a perfect pass and then set it back to them. Make sure to practice going forward and setting the ball, going backward and setting the ball, going side to side and setting the ball, and even practice bumping the ball for the impossible passes. ALSO stay in shape and always be ready for any kind of pass! Keep a positive attitude about the whole situation so you don't get your teammates down and cause their passing to get worse. Good luck! Message me if you need more help!

  9. One of my favorite sayings in volleyball is... "Setters can't be choosers".  You are the setter and you need to concern yourself less with the ball coming to you and worry about the ball moving away from you.  You can only worry about what you can do for your team.  Let your coach deal with what others can do.

Your teammates will respect you if you take their cruddy passes and make awesome sets.  If you do it without griping, they'll respect you more and work hard to give you good passes.

Just don't expect a whole lot of thanks or glory.  If you're wired in a way that you need to receive heaps of praise when you do well, then you're playing the wrong position.
