Question:

Setting a password for my netgear router?

I use a netgear wireless router in my home, and I believe that someone outside my house is using my wireless(probably some kid across the street). How do I set it up to where you need a protocol or username & password to connect? I need to make it a secure network so only I can use the wireless, and won't have someone else using it. Thanks!

  1. You want WPA2 security.  (Where it is on any given model of router varies with the router.)  (WEP security is about as secure as a paper lock.)  If you have MAC-address filtering, I'd turn that on too.  The more difficult you make it, the better the chance that he'll stop trying. (The MAC address you'll need is the hardware address you get when, in a command window, you type ipconfig/all)

  2. go to options and select enable password. or jus track him as intruder on ur network map.
