Question:

Setting my router as a client over wireless?

I currently have two routers, 1 being Netgear WGR614v6 and the other being D-Link DIR-615. My question is can either of these be set as a client router? Is this any 3rd party firmware to allow it? Or do I need to just buy a third router?

  1. The Netgear unit is listed in the DD-WRT as a supported device so you can change the firmware to that and then use it as a wireless bridge.

The firmware is open source and really is good.

Do understand that will use 802.11g and make all your network 54mbs and not use the N speeds of the DIR615.
