Setting up existing e-mail onto new pc.

Question

while trying to set up outlook with an existing e-mail a/c the test function returns the following error message. "Outlook could not logon to the outgoing mail server (SMTP). The problem could be the server name, your server may require authentication, or your server may not support SSL. Verify authentication and SSL options under More Settings.
My question is how can I get round this?
