Setting up home cinema?

I live in France and have a 'normal' TV set connected to a 6 year old Amstrad digi- box with which we can receive all UK terrestial channels and can play CDs and DVDs through a DVD player/ recorder (2 years old now). Everything is connected via SCART leads. I would like to improve my system and am looking to buy a straightforward not too expensive surround sound/home cinema system to bolt on to my existing system without having to invest in a new TV at present. I am however expecting to have to buy a new DVD player. As you have probably guessed I know very little about this so can someone advise me how to proceed and the basics of what to look for and to buy etc.

  1. I would suggest buying a dvd player which has a surround sound system built into it, its probably the cheapest and easiest way to set up a home cinema.
