Hi I currently have a Windows 98 Desktop and I got a Wireless Router about 2 Years ago. My Uncle did somthing on my Windows 98 desktop to make the Router work with Windows 98. Do you have any idea what this is? I'm asking this because I'm going to have to re - set my Router soon do a HARD RESET I mean since I have forgot my Password for login into the Router.

  1. If the computer running windows 98 is connected via wireless, I would think that nothing on the windows 98 should have to be reset except for maybe a WEP/WAP password key if you decide to secure your wireless router, and you would have to find the router which should be easy. But as far as installing drivers and such on your windows 98, I would not think anything would need to be done unless you reinstall your wireless adapter.

If it is connected via wired, I would think it should be as easy as plugging it in.

I am not positive on this but this would be my guess.

Personally I like windows 98. Right now I have it dual booted on this computer with Xubuntu, which is what I am using as I type this.

  2. If you want to manage your router and you forgot the password, you are right and you are going to have to reset it to factory defaults.

After you do that, I don't think you will have to do much to make Win98 work with your router. Make sure you have the router driver's CD close once you reset it to make it work on Win98.

  3. might want to  get a computer more modern than a windows 98..... (no offence to you if you cant afford a new one)
