Setting up my freeview box- NO CHANNELS FOUND

Question

I have just moved into a new shared house which has a old cable and wireless box with an areial coming from the wall into the black box. I want to set up my freeview but its not picking up any channels. If i bypass the black box and put the arial from the wall into my TV i can get a perfect picture but when i set up my preview it can't pick up channels...i am at my wits end with it PLEASE HELP
