Settle a bet. What is the avergae size of Irish women?

My cousin keeps trying to convince me that most Irish women are smaller than women from other places with Asia being the exception. I don't believe him. Give us the average height so this twit has to buy me beer.

Well I am 5ft7 and I am slightly taller than most people so I imagine the average is around 5ft5

I'd say your cousin is taking the p**s. the women here are NORMAL. put it this way, i have a friend who is just under 5ft and my wife is 6.1ft, so, i will put it this way, enjoy your beer

I googled and nothing official but it appears that the average height of an Irish woman is 5' 5".

My sister is 5' 7", my mum 5' 6" and I'm 5' 10" so I'm not convinced that's accurate.

Smaller than other European women?  Wouldn't have thought so.  My 5ft 8in and dress size 14 feels average.

I suspect we're shorter than the Scandinavians.  Not that this means very much!

The average height of women (not just in Ireland but also across Europe & North America) is 5ft 4-5ft5. I don't know why so many average women think of themselves as 'short'--I guess it's because we are bombarded with images of giant 6ft models!

  Interestingly, the average Irish woman in  2000BC was also 5ft5. A lot of people believe everyone was short in ancient times,but it's not so. people got shorter in later times due to overcrowding and a poorer diet.

The average height for women is 5ft5. I am Italian and average for Italy (5ft4) but here in Ireland I feel small.

It is not the average number you should be looking for but the median height of irish women, as variation has an effect on the mean(average)
