Were trying to get this old debt resolved but the morons on the phone refuse to send a settlement letter. Could we deal with this if we go to the central office or do they not handle things like this there? We just want then to print us out a settlement letter so we can pay and be done..

  1. Is the debt still with Verizon or has it been sold to a collection agency?

I suggest you send them a certified, return receipt letter detailing your settlement offer.   Ask that an authorized agent sign the bottom of your letter indicating acceptance of the offer.  Put lines at the bottom for signature, date and print name.

When you get a signed copy, send them the payment.  Don't pay without something in writing, particularly if you are settling for less than full balance.

You might try walking into the main office, but chances are, you won't find anyone authorized to sign off on a settlement.
