Question:

Settling a Family Feud?

When our dad committed suicide, it started a huge rift between my half sibs and i. i'm the one who dealt with the estate, and that made matters worse of course. they live with their mother (they're still in college), and this has just made things worse, because she hates me and i'm sure brainwashes them.

anyway, i want a relationship with them. any ideas on how to reach out? inviting them to be my friends on myspace already hasn't worked. should i just give it time? it's already been 4 years. they're in college, you'd think they'd be mature enough to have a relationship with me (i'm 30), but you never know.

Advice please?

  1. try to invite them over every so often and try to make plans to go over there. if they make remarks you don't like just ignore them and change the subject. they soon might get bored and stop doing that and finally start hanging around more and being nice to you. give it a year or two of that and if that doesn't work then i say just leave them in the dust because you don't need their c**p really. you have your own life to deal with.

now just remember to only ignore remarks if they do something really bad like steal or break things in your house then don't stand for that and kick them out.

  2. Well you can only try to reach out.  Send a certified letter (to your half Sib's) explaining how  you feel. When on myspace did they know it was you?  If the answer is yes then give it time.

  3. you tried. dont feel bad . maybe they will come around.

  4. I'd give them a call and ask them why they are avoiding you. Tell them how sorry you are and how you feel about your relationship between them. Ask them to go out for lunch or something to talk about everything that has been going on.

    .wish you all the best!

    good luck :)
