Ive got a Kenwood headunit that is all fancy

Plays Mp3, CDs, the whole bit.. and its 50Wx4

Ive got 2 12" 02S12L5 sub woofers - 2 Ohm Dual VoiceCoils

( Kicker Solo-Baric 2002 Model)

Rated - 600RMS (1200RMS)

My Amp will be a

POWER ACOUSTIK OV1-2000D

The only thing im worried about is the amp.

I want to go a little under the rated RMS on the subs just because they are 6 years old and have been under some torture i bet. And plus stay away from blowing the sub.

I want to stay within 850-1000 RMS

Im not too audio savvy, so help would be appreciated.

  1. check these wiring diagrams for your subs

    http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

    that amp is:

    RMS Power Rating:

    4 ohms: 600 watts x 1 chan.

    2 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan.

    1 ohm: 1200 watts x 1 chan.

not many amps are 0.5 ohms stable. so your safe bet will be wiring it to get 900watts rms @ 2 ohms.

(middle picture from the link i gave you)

this will be the safest way to wire those 2 ohm dvc subs. because if you just wire all the + together and all the - together... you will get a 0.5 ohm load. this is too low for that amp and will make it go into thermal/protect mode and possible to burn fuses.

also, never have any setting on the amp at Max, and never go higher than 3/4 high on the Gain/Level setting.

this will give your subwoofers a very distorted signal and will damage the subs by blowing them, burning or melting the coils.

    good luck man
