Setup of a Belkin Wireless adapter on a G4, ran okay but will not acquire wireless.?

Question

Go into settings and can't select airport -even though it is not airport, apple site said this is where I should go, Computer keeps asking for a phone number to dial (OMG) Wireless on other computers works fine. Light comes on on the belkin so I know it knows it there but the computer won't access wireless any ideas? thanks
