Setyaldi Putra Wibowo casts out Felik Cwibc in 2012 Pertamina Open Badminton Championships
Men’s Singles expert Setyaldi Putra Wibowo continued his unbeatable run in the Pertamina Open Badminton Championships and qualified for the third round on Monday, December 10, 2012.
He was up against Felik Cwibc in the second round and this meeting lasted only for 20 minutes as Setyaldi wrapped this showdown in just two games with 21-7 and 21-12 figures.
Both Indonesian campaigners put an honest effort in this short-lived tussle which was staged at the local badminton arena of Jakarta.
A decent number of spectators gathered to support both contenders and they were well served with top class badminton.
However, Setyaldi showed superior craft on the court and locked the honour with a straight-set win.
He laid foundation of his supremacy immediately in the opening game and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments.
In first set of the match, he launched an intensive attack and confined the opposing shuttler in the rear court.
Setyaldi, who holds second spot in the tournament ranking, cornered his rival by proving himself superior technically and tactically.
He established an unassailable lead way before the half time and transformed it into a mountainous figure of 11.
In latter part of the game, Setyaldi showed consistency in his performance and strengthened his grip with couple of productive rallies.
He did not lose focus at any stage of the game and pocketed first match point with a staggering knock of 21-7.
The following game did not bring any hope for Felik as he remained at the lower end throughout this crucial segment.
First sign of trouble came when he got down in the establishing rallies and then few back-to-back unforced errors doubled the impact.
Meanwhile, Setyaldi clinched some vital points and made a notable difference on the points table. He did not lose that rhythm and piled up an indomitable margin of 11.
After the mid-game break, Felik prevailed in some uninterrupted rallies but a fluctuated performance put his expedition to halt.
He kept trailing behind his challenger and gave up this futile chase after reading 12-21 score on the board.
With this splendid win, Setyaldi setup his next clash with another Indonesian player Romario Yulistio in third round of the tournament.
