Seu Bock advises Chong Wei to be wary of young Chinese in All-England – Badminton news
The Malaysian coach Tey Seu Bock gave a wakeup call to World Number one Lee Chong Wei and advised him to be wary of young Chinese, Wang Zhengming and Du Pengyu, in the All-England Open, starting from March 6 in Birmingham.
The defending champion Lee Chong Wei, who is also looking to strike hat-trick in world’s oldest open, is scheduled to face former junior world champion Wang Zhengming in first round of All England Open.
The national coach Tey Seu Bock believes that Wang Zhengming will be playing fearlessly and will not be a sitting duck despite of his first round exit in the German Open.
He said, “On paper, Chong Wei should win but Zhengming is not a pushover. This youngster has nothing to lose and will go all out – especially after his setback at the German Open.”
Chong Wei has dominated Zhengming in all four meetings but the Chinese lad showed a strong character in latest meeting of Japan Open and that alarms the national coach Seu Bock.
He indirectly gave a wakeup call to Malaysian ace Chong Wei by admiring the badminton skills of young Zhengming, who is currently placed 16 in men’s singles world rankings.
The cautious Seu Bock said, “Zhengming may not be a contender for the All-England title yet but I see him as one of China’s future stars. He has the killer shot and with more experience and training, he can become China’s top player one day.”
The two-time All England champ Lee Chong Wei needs to surpass another Chinese shuttler Du Pengyu in first half of his draw which also includes the seasoned Danish shuttler Peter Gade , Lee Hyun-Il of South Korea, Japanese Sho Sasaki, and the Dane Jan O
Jorgensen.
Seu Bock thinks that 22-year old Du Pengyu from China also has the ability to become a dark horse thus should not be taken too lightly.
He said, “Pengyu is a hard-hitter and will fight for every point although he’s not as skilful as Zhengming. So, he should not be under-estimated.”
The Malaysian maestro Lee Chong Wei has a strong opposition throughout in his marathon for a hat-trick All England title as he will be tested by world class Chinese players, World Champion Lin Dan, Chen Long and Chen Jin, in lower half of his draw.
Chong Wei has won the Malaysia, South Korea and Selangor Opens in this year and he is confident to strike hat-trick at All-England Open to become the second Malaysian after late Wong Peng Soon with three consecutive titles.
