Seu Bock believes Chong Wei will shoulder his responsibilities in future events – Badminton News
The Malaysian singles coach Tey Seu Bock believes that Lee Chong Wei will lead the country in Axiata Cup and India Open as the initial reports have shown his injury minor shoulder damage.
The badminton maestro Chong Wei had to concede walk over in the title match of All England Open against the Chinese arch rival Lin Dan which also ended his chance to strike hat-trick in the world’s oldest open.
The World Number one shuttler Chong Wei also decided to skip the Swiss Open due to shoulder pain and preferred to stay off the court for couple of days.
However, Seu Bock is hoping that his injury will not keep him away from his racket for much time and he will swing his arms in near future events.
He said, “Although he’s not back in training yet, he can swing his racquet and the pain doesn’t really affect him that much. If he’s fit, he’ll also compete in the Axiata Cup and the India Open.”
The Penangite is one of the strongest contenders and the biggest hope of Malaysia in London Olympics. The mega event is likely to be his last Olympic appearance and the badminton ace has huge responsibility on his shoulders.
The coach considers Chong Wei lucky in the sense that he still has lot of time to recover and resume his training for the Olympics.
Seu Bock said, “It would be better if he didn’t suffer any injuries ahead of the Olympics but this is something which can’t really be helped. It’s a good thing that he got the injury now as there is still plenty of time for him to recover.”
The Malaysian maestro Chong Wei is scheduled to participate as captain of Malaysia A team in Axiata Cup which is going to be the richest team event of badminton history with $1 million prize money.
The 29-year-old shuttler will join hands with Hafiz Hashim, Arif Abdul Latif and Daren Liew in opening round of the event.
After finishing his marathon in Axiata Cup Chong Wei will strive hard to repeat the history in Indian Open as he is defending his title in the event.
