Seu Bock feels Chong Wei should not develop injury phobia – Badminton News
The Malaysian badminton king Lee Chong Wei is once again out of court and this time due to a fever but his coach Tey Seu Bock feels he should not be thinking about these injuries and hoped he will be swinging his arms before the India Open, starting on April
24, 2012.
Earlier, World Number one shuttler Chong Wei fell prey to a shoulder injury in All England Open last month and resumed his training a few weeks back. The badminton ace had been stretching to get in shape but it seems that he may have over-exerted himself
as now he is down with fever.
National Singles coach Seu Bock admitted that Chong Wei had been working out really hard for last two weeks which resulted in this minor trouble and he must lighten up after such heavy training sessions.
He said, "The past two weeks have been spent on intense training sessions and Age is one of the factors why his recovery is slower now so he needs to get good rest after tough sessions."
The 29-year-old shuttler had to concede to a walk over against Chinese nemesis Lin Dan in All-England owing to paining shoulder and he missed a hat-trick crown of the world’s oldest badminton tournament.
Chong Wei stayed away from arena for couple of weeks and missed some prestigious events. He started training under the supervision of Seu Bock but over straining resulted in fever which put his marathon to a temporary halt.
However, the badminton guru hoped that he will join practice session today after missing it on Wednesday and Thursday. He also feels that he must not develop any injury phobia.
Seu Bock said, "He will be able to resume full training again tomorrow (today). He should not develop a phobia about the shoulder injury but nonetheless we need to be careful in India."
The India Open is going to be the last tournament before closing of Olympic qualification period and Chong Wei will be striving hard not only to defend his title but also to make a strong statement about his fitness.
Seu Bock advised him to play his regular game and stated that India Open is not more important than the London Olympics and main target of Chong Wei is to get in shape for the mega event.
