Seu Bock thinks Chong Wei will live up to his billing in 2012 Japan Open – Badminton News
Badminton ace Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia is all set to resume his activities on the court in the Japan Open and national Singles coach Tey Seu Bock believes that the maestro will employ all of his brilliance and experience to raise country’s flag in this
Super Series.
World Number two shuttler will be swinging his arms being the top seeded contender as Lin Dan is not going to grace the event with his presence.
The other prominent contenders will be World Number three Chinese shuttler Chen Long, the veteran Dane Peter Gade and Kenichi Tago of Japan.
However, Seu Bock is positive that Chong Wei will cruise to victory without any trouble as he has been preparing under the worst conditions.
The badminton guru also added that the top Malaysian shuttler is in high spirits to claim the Japan Open title after losing a gold medal in 2012 London Games.
He said, "Chong Wei wants to win the Japan Open. He will not be under pressure. He is just coming back after enduring a tough period and he will take his time to start setting new targets again."
Moreover, Seu Bock also stated that the 29-year-old shuttler will not represent Malaysia in every tournament as he intends to play until the next edition of the Olympics.
According to the Japan Open draw, Chong Wei will face Wong Wing Ki of Hong Kong in the opening round. If he wins, then Nguyen Tien Minh or Wang Zhengming will be waiting for him in the pre quarter-finals.
In round of eight, he will be up against Du Pengyu and a win will take him into the semi-finals where Kenichi Tago or Peter Gade is likely to be his opponent.
Chong Wei is expected to have a smooth ride to the final round to lock horns with another Chinese campaigner, Chen Long whom he outshined in the semi-finals of the London Olympics.
The other Men’s Singles Malaysian campaigners will be Daren Liew and Wei Feng Chong who will open their marathon against Chou Tien Chen and Sho Sasaki respectively.
Meanwhile, Doubles experts Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong are subjected to a tough trial as they are scheduled to meet prime Korean duo Kim Ki Jung-Kim Sa Rang in first round of this Super Series event.
