The round 1 at the Earth Course witnessed a marvelous 66 by the young golfer, Noh Seung-yul that placed him as a contender for the first place worth $1.25 million.
According to latest reports, Noh Seung-yul delivered a spectacular 66 in R1 of the Dubai world Championship leaving him only a stroke's deficit from Robert Karlsson.
The season ending Dubai World Championship kicked off on the 25th of November and it managed to pull a team of 60 golfers.
Along with the South Korean, PGA Champion Martin Kaymer was seen struggling hard in his play. He ended up at third place with a score of 67.
The fourth place was handed over to Thongchai Jaidee who carded a marvelous 68 in contention for the title. The golfer recorded a four-under in his cards and has his hopes up to achieve a better result in the 2010 season ending event.
Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood stand tied along with 3 other golfers in the top 5 list.
As far as Noh is concerned, the teenage sensation started the tournament with a lot of confidence holding consecutive pars at the starting two holes. The golfer carded back to back birdies at hole number 3 and 4 and was thus able to grab an early momentum that showed positive signs.
His most testing trial began when the nineteen year old entered the last 4 holes of the Earth Course. The golf club has been near to brutal in the past with countless golfers faltering at the long stretched par 5 18th hole. Noh however, dealt with the water at the right and bunkers at the left from the tee confidently and executed the hole with a birdie.
Noh charged the last holes in the GC with full force and collected 2 birdies at hole number 16 and 18, while the 15th and the 17th hole awarded the golfer spectacular pars.
All in all the nineteen year old grabbed 6 birdies and 12 pars at the 18 holes.
Out of the 15 events the nineteen year old played, he managed to finish twice in the top three, four times in the top ten and achieved the apex at the Maybank Malaysian Open with a total earning of $875,741.
Dubai World Championship, presented by DP World, will reach its climax this week and Martin Kaymer is currently leading the standings with Seung-yul Noh at the second on the R1 board.
With the championship reaching slowly towards its end, the fierce fight for the world number one position between Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell is getting exceedingly tantalizing.
