Allianz Arena turned out to be a slaughter house for Hoffenheim as Bayern won with a 7-1 margin to strengthen their chances of winning the Bundesliga crown.
Bayern Munich emulated Barcelona’s scoreline in midweek by registering a 7-1 win over Hoffenheim at the weekend. The two sides locked heads on Saturday, March 10, at the Allianz Arena.
Mario Gomez took his season’s tally to 21 goals by claiming a hat-trick. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 also bagged a brace to silence his critics. Toni Kroos and Franck Ribery scored the other two goals for the home side.
The home side looked in perfect control right from the word go as they were determined to prove themselves following recent criticism from the German press. Gomez earned his side an early fifth minute lead which was doubled by
Robben on the 12th minute mark from the penalty spot.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 added another one to his team’s tally by scoring in the 18th minute. The midfielder found the net from outside the box and scored his fifth goal of the season.
The visitors hardly pressed forward and soon found themselves 4-0 down courtesy of a bullet from Robben in the 29th minute. Franck Ribery found the Dutch international with a sensational through ball and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
man had no qualms finding the net.
Gomez scored his second of the evening just six minutes later in the 35th minute from close range as the Munich giants went 5-0 up. Both teams went into the dugout with Bayern completely dominating the show.
It just took three minutes for the home side to get back into their groove after the interval as they scored for the sixth time in the game. Gomez completed his hat-trick to leave the visitors with a daunting task of saving themselves
from further humiliation.
Hoffenheim were allowed a breathing space for 10 minutes before Ribery added salt to the visitor’s wounds with his 58th minute effort. The Frenchman got his deserved goal after Robben played brilliantly on the left to
play him through.
The Reds were unable to keep a clean sheet as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gustavo-c15404 and fired a shot which took a deflection from the Brazilian on its way.
Bayern eventually came out as 7-1 winners to go up to 51 points, five points behind the current leaders Borussia Dortmund. Jupp Heynckes’ men will be satisfied with this result as they prepare to host Basel for the second-leg of
their Champions League knock-out stage fixture on Tuesday, March 13.
The Bavarian giants will then return to the league action against Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 on Saturday, March 17, in a bid to further close the gap on the Borussians, who recently played out a 0-0 draw against FC Augsburg.
