  1. If your boys are into pirates than a treasure hunt is always an inexpensive activity which also keeps them interested for long periods of time.

You can choose to do it in a variety of places:

    1. your house (indoors)

    2. your yard

    3. a combination of the first two

    4. a nearby local park

    5. a local beach (weather permitting)

If your boys are too young to read, or it does not come easy for all of them, pictures as clues are a good alternative. You can use photos of the location of the next clue or to make it more difficult, take the picture from an angle they wouldn't usually see or take a picture of a small object like a porcelain figurine they need to find. Once they find the object they are now in the right area for the next clue.

Because you have two birthday boys you can always do two teams (one for each birthday boy). You can double up the clues on the same trail or you can create two different trails so they never know until the end who is really in the lead. This can encourage all players to try their hardest to the end without feeling left behind.

For the last and final clue, if you would like to stick to a pirate theme, a treasure chest of sorts would be best. you could make a fancy box out of carboard around a shoe box or something or if you could find a box in the shape of a treasure chest itself.

The final clue should be the most difficult, either leaving them with a more vague clue or (if possible) to keep to the pirate theme, digging in a sandbox could add to the fun.

For the prize you could do a box full of those chocolate coins (you can usually find these at a walmart or simmilar stores). Or the prize could be the treat bags at the end.

You could use this as a seperate activity at the party or you could create a pirate theme to add to the fun.

When doing a theme party you can have all the guest dress up and follow the theme with decorations. Events and activities can also be based off the theme as well.

If your boys are not into pirates, another option for a theme could be like a detective theme, possibly modeled after spy kids or another spy-like movie. Instead of finding treasure, they could find a note saying someone was kidnapped and they have to find them. This could be just a favorite stuffed animal or family pet or person if you really want. The final clue would have to be changed to the theme chosen.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your party.

  6. Rent a few bouncies. The kids will LOVE it - and the parents will love you for tiring out their kids!!

  7. sac races, bouncy castle, pin the tail on the donkey, obstacle course races, treasure hunts and prizes at the end of the hunt. You could do a theme like a pirate or jungle trek theme. Have them go on a hunt and act like they are pirates or jungle men and have them find clues through out your house or yard that leads them to a box of goodies. Have a wiffle ball game,

  8. bowling parties were always a hit with mine and very inexpensive
