  1. Wait until  you see the doctor.. untill then

Buy a over the counter anti itch cream made especially for yeast infections

  2. Try giving her some yogurt to eat every day.  It has friendly bacteria that will help.

  3. My 4yr old had something similar, but I think it turned out to be a bladder infection....and still every now and then she complains that ''down there'' itches or hurts and it gets red, and then I usually buy a different soap.

maybe its something to do with what you're washing her clothes in, what type of soap she is bathing with, etc?

Don't listen to some people--everybody has yeast in their body, it just takes something specific to trigger it off and cause overgrowth (and its NOTHING to do with hygiene).

DONT USE MONISTAT! Children are very sensitive, and I had a bad reaction from that stuff!

Just take her to the doctor just to make sure its nothing serious.

  4. Definitely take her to the DR, try to get her an urgent care appointment before Thursday. the treatment for a child is going to likely be the same medication, just not the same exact method of application as in an adult. They will need to make sure that she doesn't have a UTI, which are very unpleasant. No seven year old is comfortable with having "private area" issues, treatment isn't a choice she has....so I would just tell her that she has to and you can apply it or she can help you apply it.

  5. Sup cranberry juice?

  6. take more showers, change you underwear, and just keep clean. it's not unheard of for kids to get yeast infections, but it is from not keeping up with personal hygiene. on another note, my mother found out when i was quite young that i am allergic to certain detergents and soaps like Mr. bubble. they made me itch too. well good luck and keep it clean. that's one thing every girl should know

  7. Did she recently take antibiotics? That can cause yeast infections in children. Have her eat yogurt and drink lots of water to help. Also it cant hurt to try an OTC cream for the itching. But I would see the DR anyway.

  8. I would not treat her until she is diagnosed. Acidophilus capsules (live yogurt bacteria) is a very safe, natural way to treat those types of infections. You can buy them at any health food store. You could also try Attune yogurt bars which have 5x the probiotics than you can get in yogurt alone. Those can also be purchased at any health food store.

  9. i think you should still have her be checked by the docters to see if its gone for good. yeast infections can be caused by many things. so its not rare for a child to get it....

  10. My girls are all very prone to yeast infections....First of all dont wait call the dr office now...they may have you come in today or call in some nystatin to use till thursday...but a yeast infection is unbearable to deal with dont make her wait...

    Aslo,

*do not buy her colored panties ( always make sure it has a cotton crotch)

    * have her change her underwear midday...Yeast grows in warm damp places.

*Make sure she is wiping from front to back....and that she wipes every time.....no drip drying.

*Make sure she drys hereself completly after her baths, and check with the dr but powder in her panties might help keep moisture to a min.

*Make sure she is drinking plenty of clear fluids, and not a lot of sugar....A diet with lots of sugar adds to this problem.

*Do not use TP that has perfumes or lotions, or prints.

******Have your daughter eat yogurt everyday or everyother day this help prevent yeast infections.

An external Yaginal Itch cream will help ease the itchiness untill the infection goes away....But as with any medication watch for side effects ( make sure you let your dr know what you have used)

    Hope this helps

** UPDATE  - Call the nurse line at the dr office, ER is a bt more intimidating for her.   No they wont have to do a Pelvic exam...chances are your drs office will have you decribe it and call something in....But if they do have you come in they will just have her lay back and look at her to see to make sure there are no signs of trauma or other signs of a different type of infection

  11. Dont laugh but I would use sonmething for diaperrash on her til she goes to the dr's, at least it should help it from getting worse and its gentle since shes so young

  12. Use what you use if you think it will be helpful for her. Do not let her go to school, because it could get worse. I hope everything goes well.

  13. See if there is any way the doctor can get her in sooner. This can really irritate a young one and kids don't listen. If it itches, they'll scratch it. Chances are, it probably won't go away before she gets to the doctor. It's a bacterial infection and can't go away unless it's treated. If you have any monistat cream, try putting it on the outside. Don't put any inside. Leave that decision up to the doctor. This might help keep her from scratching until you can get her to the doctor. Get her to drink lots of water and cranberry juice so it doesn't turn into a UTI. All that scratching could cause bacteria to get into her urinary tract and cause more problems. Make sure she wipes good when she uses the restroom and she washes her hands good. Good luck!

  14. Lotrimin Anti-fungal is what my pediatrictian has recommended for my girls, but call your doctor and ask if it's ok first!

  15. You can buy over the counter stuff to treat it if it really is a yeast infection. I would recommend taking her to a doctor no matter how embarrased she is. This is her body and any infection down there could cause infertiliy later in life. The dr can get her on pills and creams.

  16. dont treat it like an adult yeast infection.it could be harmful to her!

  17. its probaly the dtergent ur using cause she is too young to be developing so much yeast or you have to change her diet

  18. Insist on getting an appointment tomorrow take her to the urgery and wait untilyou get seen by the GP if you have to.

  19. There are several things that can cause an itch in the privates of our children. Including bacterial infections, yeast , worms , and over stimulation , and urine infections.

Being in a bath too long has been the #1 reason for my girl to break out with the itchies. I tell her now to take showers, after consuting a Dr  .

Don't freak out to much, especialy if she has pin worms. We are mamals , and get bugs and germs.  I had Pinworms as a child ( probably from a cat ) .

  20. My nephew (18 months) had a yeast infection too.  The doctor told his Mom to put Maalox on his bum.  It cleared up within a day.

  21. No, don't give her any monistat or any other OTC stuff until she sees the doctor! I'd never use that on a seven year old.

  22. what?

    you sound jumbled.

you did not say if the origin was internal or external.

take the child to the doctor and leave it at that.

children don't normally have the same treatment and doses as adults.

  23. kids can get yeast infection it's normal you could get special cream for infection for kids otherwise just wait till u see the doctor if it's even gone by then ask the doctor what u should do next time, make sure she changes her underwear every day and when she goes to washroom make sure she cleans her self properly.don't worry it will be OK.

  24. Theres probably JUST a infection down there- you have to take her to the doctor.

  25. I would see her dr, but not the ER.  Over-the-counter yeast creams are perfectly fine if you know that's what she has.

I have 6-year-old twin girls and both of them have had yeast infections.  Their dr did tell me to use over-the-counter creams.  Do not insert any kind of applicator, of course, but you do need to apply it around the vaginal opening.  The cream will work it's way up (according to her dr).

  26. i would wait to treat til you take her to the doctor. she also may have a UTI. your doctor may want her to use something more mild.

  27. I am not too sure about this but I know when babies get rashes its actually from a yeast infection type of bacteria I'm not quite sure because you say she's 7 but it still could be the same thing.  So try maybe desitin, butt paste( previous 2 can be found @ walmart or walgreens)  or A&D ointment.  If all else fails see a doctor.  Hope that helps

  28. Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil....and start giving her pro-biotics to prevent illness(such as yeast infection....I hope she get well soon.

  29. 7-year-old girls can get yeast infections. While she waits to see the doctor, ask your daughter to put plain yoghurt on it. It's a natural cure for yeast infections, but won't be harmful in any other way.

Keep talking to her -- tell her many many women get yeast infections and it's nothing to be scared or embarrassed about. Tell her about your own experiences -- keep open and she'll feel much more comfortable.
