  1. Seventh-day Adventists are rather conservative and especially encourage modesty in dress.  Many Adventists refrain from wearing jewelery, and some don't wear make-up.  Other than that, it really depends upon the individual church, and local clothing styles.

One of the most obvious things that Seventh-day Adventists and Catholics share in common is a world-wide sense of mission and church community.

As Seventh-day Adventists, as you mentioned, we follow the example of  Christ (Luke 4:16) and the apostles (Acts 17:2) in observing the seventh-day Sabbath as outlined in the fourth commandment (Exodus 20:8-11).  The other most obvious distinction alluded to in our denominational name -- is that we believe that Christ will return to this earth for those who have accepted Him as their personal Savior -- or the Second Advent.

Adventists also recognize the distinction between clean and unclean animals and refrain from eating unclean meats, such as shellfish, pork and catfish.  Essentially, we refrain from eating animals that are scavengers.

I hope that you feel welcome at the Seventh-day Adventist church, and that it is a pleasant experience for you.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to e-mail.

    God Bless!
