Sevenup Bradders breaks Taranis Rex’s record at Gymcrack heat at Kinsley
Sunday 3rd July 2011 saw the six heats of Gymcrack at Kinsley unfold. Each of the six heats consisted of six runners each, making the overall number of Greyhounds running that night thirty-six.
The first heat comprised of a field of six including Taranis Rex, Amys Prince, Big Alf, Stay Sweet, Romeo Energy, and, Farloe Luigi. The 462 meter heat kicked off at 14:58 and witnessed a spectacular performance by Taranis Rex, who finished in a record breaking 27.45 seconds.
In the next heat that began at 15:13 Sundance Jet, Ballymac Milfred, Bowtime Joey, Evie Rose, Yorkshire Clover, and, Romeo At Risk, competed for first place.
The heat was won by Sundance Jet, who covered the distance in 27.87 seconds followed runner-up Romeo At Risk.
However the latter was disqualified on the basis of his opening antics.
The third heat was the most exciting one, featuring runners such as Newmarket Flyway, Witton Flyer, Offshore Rebel, Seven Bradders, Witton Bound, and, Romeo Machine. Starting at 15:27 this heat saw Taranis Rex’s record getting broken by Seven Bradders just 29 minutes after it had been first established.
Sevenup Bradders ran a wide race but still finished the third heat in a swift 27.44 seconds, just a second less than the previous record holder.
The fourth heat saw Matts Macey, Harrys Blonde, Dunion Wells, Bowtime Moxey, Drumcrow Olly, and, Witton Polly battle it out for victory. Harrys Blonde won this race in 27.46 seconds, the third fastest time of the day.
The fifth heat, which begun at 15:59 featured Greyhounds Blue Max, Witton Tom, Drumcrow Dav, Drumcrow Fern, Valentia Zig, and, Bubbly Ebony. Longshot Drumcrow Dav won this heat in 27.77 seconds.
The sixth and final heat showcased the talent of Witton Bolt, Droopys Bliss, Calling Duke, Mutton Geoff, Rocknrollrosie and French Blue. 20/11 Calling Duke won this heat in 27.75 seconds, thus wrapping up the day.
The semi-finals of Gymcrack are due to take place next Saturday i.e. 9th July 2011. The trap-draws have not yet been conducted but are due to take place within the next twenty four hours.
