  1. I sometimes take Hyland's Calm Forte.  It's an herbal mix that helps to calm you down.  I also take Valerian root.  They do a decent job to help keep me calm and relaxed.  I also try to get plenty of rest and I do sleep a lot more around this time if I have trouble dealing with my emotions.  I keep myself busy with my hobbies whether it be gaming or crochet.  I like to do things that take my mind completely off how I am feeling.

Are you sure your birth control isn't making your PMS worse?  I only as because I was tried two different kinds of birth control pills and I went off both of them because they made my PMS much worse and my periods ten times worse.  You might want to talk to your doctor about how you are feeling and see if they think you should try another pill.

    I hope you feel better!

  2. You could try getting off of the pill, sometimes they have worse side affects, and do more harm than good. Its better to just be off of it, and go natural. But that, of course, is your decision. Otherwise, getting proper exercise and eating right can elieviate PMS.

  3. Well over the last few years, I was having really heavy painful periods.  Also my periods were always 3 weeks overdue and the PMS would start the three weeks before this, so all in all 3 weeks of h**l.

Well then my sister introduced me to evening primrose oil.

I didn't think it would work, but it said that it was good for your skin also so I took them.  And surprisingly for the first time in around 5 years my period was on time and I experience NO pms or tender b*****s!!! NOTHING!!!! My period isn't at all heavy this time either.   So I would suggest you try EVENING PRIMROSE OIL, its even helped me to loose weight as I haven't spent the 3 weeks of h**l craving food all of the time.

  4. Sorry to hear you are going through this nightmare every month - I used to before my periods stopped (through losing both ovaries owing to cysts, in my 40s).

One friend finds that Progesterone pessaries (Cyclogest) help her PMT, as these are natural progesterone, not artificial like Provera pills.  Also eating regular carbohydrates like bread, pasta, rice (not sugary stuff) every 3-4 hours can help stop drops in blood sugar which make things worse.  Some find cutting out caffeine can help....

Just a few thoughts, hope you find something that helps.  It might be worth asking your Dr if the "Pill" is the best thing for you, too.  If you are in your 30s or 40s, there is a huge device called the Mirena coil which fits inside your womb and releases hormones at the right time, as well as being a contraceptive  - not quite sure of all the facts on this, but think it can help with PMS.

  5. You may have PMDD (pre menstrual dysphoric disorder) It is severely hormonal and can be accompanied by severe cramps nausea and bloating. I would talk to a gyno. during that week so they can see it first hand. It could also be a form of depression heightened by your time. There are plenty of options, so stay as calm as you can. (And keep your faith!)
