Severe Toothache with no Decay?

Hi, my tooth ache is getting from bad to worse. Have had it for 2 days now. Its not the front few or the back ones... its right on the side (the conical shaped teeth). I cant see any decay and the gum looks fine.. But touching or any sort of contact is paining like helll.. PLEASE HELP.. Orajel is not working and I dont have insurance..

i have never had any visible decay, but it's been there.

i don't think the pain sounds like decay though, if just touching it with your finger makes it hurt severely. you need to get it looked at.

have you tried oil of cloves or ibuprofen? i don't know what orajel is, we don't have it where i am.

You should see a dentist ASAP, but if you absolutely can't afford it, you can try buying an inexpensive mouth guard.  You might just be grinding and clenching that caused a sprained tooth.  You'd be surprised at how painful that can be!  Go to Target/Walmart in the dental isle and buy the Dr.'s Night Guard.  It's usually about $20.  Don't be afraid to trim it down if it feels too bulky after fitting it.  You can also take a mild pain reliever or a not-so-mild one if you have any.    

If you wear that a couple of nights and it doesn't feel any better, beg for $$ from family and get to the dentist!!  Good luck!

90 percent of the time you cannot visualize the decay, it can only be DIAGNOSED by the dentist with XRAYS so go to the dentist!

PS, Most dentists take cash or credit, problems caught while they are small are inexpensive to repair, to wait is to invite BIGGER problems.
