this is the second time in the past two months I've had a crippling back pain, it hurts to move at all and i'm currently using heat packs, hot water bottles and ibuprofen to help, the last time, I just thought i'd pulled a muscle, but last night I wasn't doing anything, I was just sitting down.

I need some help, my doctor last time said it was a pulled muscle, but it's happened again,

  1. Pleeeease see an osteopath, find a recommended good one though!  Gavin Attewell in Barnet  Brilliant if you near there. take it from someone who has had a serious back injury, doctors and hospitals no good for any back pain. The osteopath will assess the problem and deal with it in the RIGHT way, trust me they are good. Make sure you go ASAP, I left mine hoping it would get better it didnt, it got worse, time is of the essence. You might have an injury that needs cold packs not hot, you wont know until an osteopath diagnosed it, whatever the cost its worth it short and long term.

  2. Well, I've had TWO back surgeries, so I know something about back pain.  Mine all started from bad form lifting weights (herniated disk).  At first I thought I had just pulled a muscle, then went to a chiropractor, and finally surgeon.  So where is the pain exactly?  Pain that is also in the butt or leg or any leg/foot numbness is sometimes a good indicator that there is a pinched nerve somewhere.  If the pain is just lower back, probably just a pulled muscle.  The reason it can come back for no reason is that you may have weak back/abdominal muscles - these are your core muscles.  If you strengthen these, that actually helps and prevents recurrence.  If it persists, ask your Dr. to prescribe physical therapy (with heat and ultrasound).  They can show you some simple exercises to help.  And I still like to do some back rolls and ab work using a big inflated exercise ball to help strengthen and stretch.  And I use Alieve - it's a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory.

By the way, do you remember what you may have been doing when you first noticed the pain.

  3. thne go to the doctor again if its that serious it must be something else maybe idk ... dont ask these ppl go to your doctor

  4. Does it have any connection to your period? Right before, or during? I found I had horrible debilitating back pain right when it started every month for a couple of days. (And it was solved by taking the pill.)

  5. Go to the er and get a back x-ray.  I had the same problem.  Turned out I have scoliosis and arthritis in the spine.  The follow up with your doctor and get physical therapy.
