Since May my doctors been prescribing me medicine for social anxiety. I've been on Zoloft, Prozac, and Celexa so far. These medicines just cant get rid of the anxiety. I feel as though nothing will work, because my phobia is so bad. I'm currently on prozac, my doc said next time i see her she will prescribe medicines in a different group besides the zoloft, prozac and celexa. Does she mean a stronger medicine ?

  1. Freedom makes an interesting point in terms of nutrition as it can be an important aspect to not only our physical but our mental health as well.

When reading your question, I wondered whether you are also in therapy.  I truly hope someone is trying to help you.  It doesn't seem like medication alone would suffice, and sometimes, it is also worth trying something different before taking them.  I wish I could help but I am not a professional.  Can you identify a trigger for this social anxiety?

Because you posted this in the alternative medicine category, I thought I might suggest something to look into (one amongst many interesting and possibly helpful alternatives).  I once looked into bach flower remedies.  Unfortunately, I am not extremely knowledgeable about this therefore I would recommend you call someone from the centre for additional information and also research this and speak with others who might have tried this:   http://www.bachcentre.com/centre/consult...

(I just noticed the website also has message boards)

The centre or a practitioner in this field could assist you in finding the right type or combination of remedies, which would probably be best prior to using any of these, and again, your own research is very important.  I truly hope you are able to find a way to overcome the anxiety as I imagine it must be very debilitating.  Best of luck to you.

  2. Different meds act differently together.  Not only that you have to be careful how they work on you as well. But you haven't even got into the 'Pam' sisters yet so take your time and see which ones work. Ex: Pam sister-clorazepam, lorazepam etc...Just make sure you are not numb to lifes experiences and doing the thorazine shuffle.

  3. Have you been watching your diet lately?  Are you drinking coffee, cola's or dark chocolate?

Foods high in caffeine mess me up.  It makes my anxiety twice as bad.

  4. no she probably means she will go out of the SSRI class all three of those are in.  she will probably try buspar, or take you to the benzodiazepines, such as klonopin, xanax or ativan to deal with your anxiety.
