Question:

Severely Bratty Sister?

by  |  earlier

I have a three year old sister, and I am fourteen. She is really spoiled by my parents. She is VERY rude and bratty. I am quiet, artistic, I don't really like her that much because she is rude. She never says please, and snaps at people, even hits. When she doesn't get her way she screams and cries constantly. Is there a way to make bratty children more polite?

I don't like the thought of hating my little sister. :( Please help me! Thanks.

  1. Been there too much to not make it public. But can you maybe balance your creativity with a good friendship possibly?

  2. well with a 3yrold spoiled girl its hard to get them more polite unless your parents are harder on her and shes only three you could have been the same way toddlers are very busy frustrated and frustrating people

  3. I think that discipline has to be instilled from a young age. I'm not talking beating, I'm talking rules, and boundaries as the older they become, the harder it is to instill these rules and boundaries. Have you tried speaking to your parents or do they not see it? I guess you could make rules for when you and her are around each other or if she is in your room. I think at 3 children understand a lot more then people think. My son is 2 and understands when i ask him to do something.

  4. d**n!!! idk!!!! good luck,that sux!!!

  5. You have to consider that she is only three. She'll mature with age and probably become less bratty. Remember that she is the younger child though, and your parents have probably spoiled her to no extent. So, whenever she starts screaming and crying it's because she is use to getting her way. She needs to be taught otherwise. Her mentality is no where near yours either; keep that mind.

Try to be nice to her; be a "friend". Show her HOW to share and explain why you do it. Whenever she hits someone/you, get your parents to put her in timeout, and if you're watching her, you do it.

Changing the way she acts without your parents are going to be extremely, extremely hard though.

But I wish you the best anyway. :)
