Sevilla's manager Gregorio Manzano has insisted that victory over Villarreal in the Spanish La Liga has strengthened their chances of European qualification this season. He also claimed that his side had won a vital three points as the opposition was not
an easy one to beat.

The manager revealed that it was an important win for the hosts and now Sevilla have a chance to qualify for the UEFA Europa League with a tough competition from Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao. He also praised Villarreal for a good performance in the
fixture and labelled them a technically perfect side.
“The victory was very important for us keeping the European position. Villarreal are a powerful opponent who are very technically gifted. They are a team who keep the ball well and it's hard to get it from them,” the Spaniard was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician said that his side started the match brilliantly and took a two goal lead in the first-half. “We lost possession in the second-half and Marchena's goal put them back in the game so we brought on Romaric to neutralise their superiority in midfield which worked well. Romaric then made it 3-1 which gave us some breathing space,” the manager concluded.
Sevilla currently sit in seventh place on the Spanish League table with 49 points. They have won 14 and lost 12 of the 33 matches played in the League this season.
