Giovani Dos Santos, the 22-year-old Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder, revealed he was disappointed with the English Premier League club’s outfit to deny him a move to Sevilla during the summer transfer window. According to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956 international,
he was close to moving to Sevilla but had negotiations closed off by Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp.
Dos Santos began his senior career with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 B in the 2006-2007 season and moved to the first team just a season later. He transferred to the London club in the summer of 2008 for a fee of €6 million with various add-ons. After 12 appearances in all
competitions and one goal, he was loaned out to Ipswich Town for the remainder of the season.
He returned to White Hart Lane in 2009-2010, only to be sent to Galatasaray for the first half of the season. He made 18 appearances for the Turkish side but failed to find the back of the net even once, he did however provide them with three assists. The
latter half of the season saw him return to the La Liga to try his luck with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-de-Santander-c40303.
Having barely made 10 appearances for the Spurs in the Premier League since 2008, Dos Santos was convinced he would have to make a move away to guarantee regular football. This was why there had been negotiations going on with Sevilla over a possible move.
The talks had progressed to the closing stages when Redknapp plugged the plug, ensuring the Mexican midfielder will now have to remain at White Hart Lane.
The player revealed he was surprised at the Tottenham Hotspur manager’s decision to pull out of talks with Sevilla, since he clearly had not included Dos Santos in his plans at the club. Having spent three years at White Hart Lane, Dos Santos felt Redknapp
had more than enough opportunity to utilize his abilities but had chosen not to do so by sending him on loan moves, one after the other.
Dos Santos said while speaking to reporters:
“To be honest I already felt at another club, Sevilla, and we had already completed more than 50% of negotiations.
Almost everything had been agreed but with half an hour to go Spurs changed their minds, something I found very odd.”
The 22-year-old admitted that he, along with his agent, was disappointed and slightly angry at the way Tottenham Hotspur had handled the situation regarding his transfer talks with Sevilla. However, he revealed he was willing to work hard at the London club
now that he was forced to stay since he respected the club and the supporters. Dos http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c32532 has been named in the 25-man squad submitted by Redknapp to the Premier League for the season.
He continued:
“Both myself and my agent have been left disappointed, sad and angry at the way Tottenham have acted and after such a long time without having any confidence in me I am now going to get my chance, which seems strange.
Even so, I mean to take this opportunity out of respect to the Tottenham fans and also because of the professional I am.”
