Sevilla not in a mood to easily let go Squillaci
Arsenal has been showing a growing interest in Sevilla’s Sebastien Squillaci. The French international has been the topic of many rumors this summer but the Spanish club says it will not give up its star cheap.
Sevilla has officially announced that it will not cut back on the price while dealing with Arsenal for Squillaci. However, Ramon Rodriguez confirmed that the 30-year old was asked not to play till the hearing up on Arsenal’s final offer and finalizing the deal. Sevilla wants around 6.5 million pounds for the centre back but it seems that Arsenal is not in a mood to match this demand. Sevilla is reported to have arranged its emergency board meeting in order to decide on this matter.
A major factor in making deals for such big players is the time period of the contract as ‘The Gunners’ normally give a one year contract to senior players. They need cover in their centre defense as William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Silvestre are all leaving with the expiry of their contracts. Likewise, Philippe Senderos has also permanently moved to the Fulhams. Arsene Wenger has placed his hopes on the new defender, the center back Laurent Koscielny who was recently brought into the Arsenal squad from Lorient for ten million pounds. Koscielny had an exciting Premier League debut and was the subject of much talk about him going to be the late change from Joe Cole. Still, during the match he got two yellow cards, which ruled him out from the upcoming match against Blackpool.
The left back, Armand Traore, also seems all ready to move to Benfica. This move of his is believed to be related to the fact that he kept falling behind Keiran Gibbs in the team. ‘The Gunners’ are also rumored to be looking for a new goalie, and the goal keepers linked to the club are Mark Schwarzer, the Australian legend and Shay Given from Ireland.
Arsenal would not have Samir Nasri to be playing for them for yet another month due to his minor knee surgery. Plus, reports coming in suggest that Wenger may resurface its interest in Riccardo Montolivo for 18 million pounds.  Montolivo currently plays for Fiorentina. Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas is expected to play against Blackpool after he missed the game against Liverpool because of his ill health. Johan Djourou has mostly recovered from his knee injury but is still not fit to play. Robin van Persie, the striker from Holland played the last fifteen minutes of the match against Liverpool and is now expected to open the next match.
At present, the deal for Squillaci is nowhere near to be finalized before the next match. Whatsoever turns out between Sevilla and Arsenal, the only thing for sure is that a decision from them is going to come soon as the transfer window is near to closing.
