http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Negredo-c5294, Sevilla striker, has stated that the reason they finished with a disappointing position last season was due to a “lack of discipline”.
The striker is confident that this season his team is going to do much better, and that they are tackling their issues this year, and improving their game.
Starting off the Spanish League in quite a decent manner, the Sevillistas have so far claimed one victory, and two ties, leaving them in seventh place so far in the La Liga table.
A member of the Euro 2012 Spanish squad that won, the striker seems to believe that the next twelve months will be very different to last year’s disappointment, and that it will be clear as to what went wrong.
He believes that their disappointing finish was due to a lack of discipline in the team, and that this year there seems to be some level of achievement, and that discipline seems to be present amongst the players.
“It was very undisciplined. We were not on time for training, Michel tried to change things, got angry several times, but it did not change,” the striker explained to Spanish newspaper Correo de Andalucia.
When explaining the improvement in the team’s attitude this year, the Spaniard said, “This year the team has reacted and it shows on the field. When you are more of a group, it shows on the field.”
He also stated how this new attitude is going to help the team, and that the improvement is very prevalent, and as a result how bad it really was last year, when the team would not stop talking when the coach would want to start training.
“In the end, it will be beneficial. Michel no longer has to wait for everyone to stop talking in order to start training.”
Last season Sevilla ended up in ninth place in the La Liga table, a very major disappointment seeing as to how only three seasons earlier they placed first in the Copa del Rey, and even participated in the qualifying rounds of the 2010-2011 season. They
were runners up in the Supercopa de Espana in 2010 and won it in 2007.
However, it seems that there is improvement being made since last season’s disappointment, and we can only wait and see whether the discipline has really set in or not.
