Sevilla vs. Porto – Europa League Review (Part 1)
It was the Porto man Guarin who sealed an extraordinary win for the Portuguese side as the Europa League kicked off during the midweek. Right before the winning goal was scored, it was Fredric Kanoute who failed to score with an open goal in front of him.
The first leg of the Europa League knock out stages began during the midweek as Sevilla were ready to entertain the Portuguese side Porto. The Dragoes picked up a first leg away win and now they just have to play the second leg in their home without conceding
a single goal.
It was the Porto man Rolando who scored the first goal of the game. With nothing coming from the first half and the sides going into the dressing room with a 0-0 dead lock, the game was expected to end goalless. In the second half, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rolando-c31583 scored the first
goal to give Porto an away goal advantage. However, Sevilla took control of the game and by taking advantage of the home ground and home crowd, Fredric Kanoute stepped up to put the teams on level terms. With only five minutes remaining in the half, things
heated up and Fredy Guarin scored the winning goal for the Portuguese side to give them an away goal and an away win advantage.
With the game starting in Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Porto looked to be very dangerous. It was the Brazilian striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 who troubled the Sevilla defensive lines as he was simply uncatchable in terms of speed and agility. The Brazilian man drove right into
the heart of the Sevilla defensive lines and struck the shot on target; however, with two tackles coming from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Sanchez, it was impossible for him to find the back of the net.
Sevilla were left chasing shadows in their home ground until they finally made a comeback after twenty minutes into the first half. Luis Fabiano almost won his team a penalty but Rolando was able to make an inch perfect tackle to deny Sevilla a shot on goal.
The penalty claim was justified but the referee C. Thompson decided that the play should go on.
With only a few minutes gone in Sevilla’s “first real attack,” Luis Fabiano made another fabulous run towards the goal. The Brazilian striker managed to brush past Nicolas Otamendi but Rolando was on his toes yet again to deny the Brazilian striker his clear
shot on goal. The Portuguese centre back was having an extraordinary night as he played against one of the best teams of the Spanish La Liga.
Rolando was like a brick wall for the Porto side. The Portuguese centre back denied the Sevilla strikers their shots on goal time and time again. It was Luis Fabiano who made a fabulous run on the right flank and was able to deliver a perfect low cross for
Fredric Kanoute. Even though the ball was well delivered and well served for the Sevilla striker and looked to be finding its target, Rolando was vigilant enough to make a sliding tackle to deny Sevilla with another goal scoring opportunity.
