Sevilla’s demand for Fabiano “Crazy Money”, says Redknapp
Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspurs boss has accused Sevilla for demanding “Crazy Money” for the Brazilian star Luis Fabiano. With this, Redknapp has officially announced his interest in the player and the desire to recruit him.
Tottenham Hotspurs have been linked with Fabiano all summer and Redknapp made no attempts to hide his interests in him. He told the media that Daniel levy inquired about the 29-year-old and said that Fabiano is a player whom he likes and wants him in the team but the money Sevilla are asking for a player of his age is just crazy. Redknapp stated that asking for a figure around £24million-£25million doesn’t logically make any sense and there is no way the deal could be made anywhere near that amount of cash.
The Spurs do have that kind of cash to spend in the club but still Redknapp is not going anywhere close to it. He seems confident that his current squad is more than capable of winning the Champions’ League and also makes this the season one to remember for ‘The Spurs.’ This is, in spite of a Group A draw which is going to be very tough as the clubs in that group are Werder Bremen, FC Twente and Inter Milan. The Spurs boss commented on the matter by saying that they have a really good chance of qualifying in the champion’s league this year.
Nothing is for sure right now as Redknapp has transformed the Spurs from a bunch of nobodies in the high leagues to European heavy weights. He hopes that people understand just how much they have improved in such little time and where they are coming from. Redknapp is also trying to play at some mind games, as he questioned if anyone could equal to what Inter Milan did under Jose Mourinho and achieve a treble. He said that to do what Inter Milan did is almost impossible, as it means to win the Champions League and Mourinho has undertaken a very hard task.
The next Spurs match is against Wigan and they literally demolished this team last season with a score of nine to one. Also as Wigan has let through ten balls in the first two matches of the league, the Spurs boss is hardly worried who instead praised Dave Whelan, the Wigan chairman for standing behind Roberto Martinez.
Harry also used this opportunity before the match to lash an attack on the agents. He singled out Asmir Begovic’s agent who told his boss not to play this week. Redknapp commented on the matter by asking, "How can you have an agent telling a player not to play?" He added that it seems as if this talented keeper wants to make a move to another club.
