My Son's Godmother gave me this Sewing Machine, its a Kenmore, but I have no idea what model, or were to look for the model #. (If you want to tell me were to look I am more then willing!) I have used this one and off for different things never having a problem, but I always seemed to use a straight stitch. I am trying to "up my ante", if you will, and was making something with elastic in it using a Zig-Zag. I fig.ed that before I tied to jump in with both feet I would try it out on scrap. It worked fine, but was too wide. I turned the with from 3 to 2 and it was fine. Then I put my project in the machine lining everything up and went to put the first couple stitches in very very slowly with my hand turning the wheel (as I always do) and hit my pin! I push the reverse button and and moved back took my pin out and went to go on... then it got all tight and would not move at all! I lifted the foot and took it all out trying it on my scrap again and after 3 stitches it did it AGAIN. What seems to be happening is that the upper thread is dubbing up (?)/ not releasing to make a stitch when it is going around the bobbin, not the first time but the 2nd, 3rd, ext. Till it gets to the point were it pushes the bobbin case up andwont go around snapping everything and trying to eat my scrap. I tried rethreading the machine and bobbin, tried putting it back to straight stitch, putting the with back, loosing the tension, and just waiting thinking that that might help (at lest my mind). I am plum out of ideas... help :( TIA!
