Question:

Sewing Machine Malfunction?

I have a Brother ES-2000 and when I go to bring the bobbin thread up, the bobbin case isn't rotating properly. It's like it stops and won't let me retrieve the thread. When I remove the bobbin, The case wiggles around, and I don't think it should. This model does not have a removable bobbin case, so this is a major problem. Can anyone help?

  1. Sewing machines are rather simple machines.  Lets see if I can help you troubleshoot this problem.

The bobbin case fits into a particular "slot" or special place that is exactly made for it to fit into.  When it's in the proper place it doesn't move much at all.

If you can, place the machine so that you can really SEE the area where the bobbin is placed.  Use a flashlight if needed.  Inspect the area looking for obstructions ( could be metal, could be lint, could be caught threads...) that may keep the bobbin from seating "home" and allows it's proper movement.  Use a stiff bristle brush and clean the area.  Relace the bobbin and check again.

That covers plain sewing machine bobbin problems.  I am not familiar with the ES-2000 so I may be totally off base.

    Good luck
