Ok so I am 14 and I love to sew, and my friend is having this 40's style party(my favorite era of clothing), and she needs me to make her so awesome clothes, i found some patterns online, and they were 4.00-15.00, what is a reasonable price, i am a cheapo so i like to keep the cost down, thanks for the help in advance.

  1. True vintage patterns will be single size and the fitting sizes will be different from what you're used to, so pay careful attention to the measurements on the envelopes.

Most of the re-released vintage stuff has been remade for modern sizing and is multi-sized, so often easier to work from.

Vintage clothing styles really only look authentic when they're over vintage underwear, girdles, bras, slips, etc.... the shapes were *so* different then thanks to the under armor. <g>

  2. Simplicity and Butterick are now re-releasing old vintage patterns from the 30s-onwards, so if you go to a fabric shop you could probably find  patterns like these; they are excellent because they have modern markings and are easier to sew, yet retain the old look of the original garments.
