Okay well I wanted to sew a dress pattern that I found, but i wanted to modify it a little bit. Here it is.

I wanted to make the dress a bit longer, a little below my knees. Can I do that? Also, I wanted to add a little kind of embroidery....like this one. See the embroidery? Maybe not that much though.

So do you think i could do that? I have experience with the sewing machine, of course.

  1. The easiest way  to lengthen the dress is to simply add inches the the bottom of each skirt piece. Make sure you carry out the shape of pattern when adding to bottom.

  2. I'm pretty sure the "embroidery" is already on the fabric.  That would be good for you.

Yes, you can easily lengthen a dress pattern.  There will probably be a line on the pattern that says "lengthen or shorten here".  To lengthen, cut on the line & place paper between the two halves.  Tape together & extend the edge of the pattern across the new piece of paper.

    Does this help?
