Question:

Sewing factory in US?

I'm looking for a sewing factory here in US specializing in bridal. Does anyone know a factory they can recommend to me? I really don't want to bring business anywhere else but here. I believe in working locally to build the economy. Have they all gone to China???

  1. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  (if these dresses are for your wedding)

Yes, a lot of bridal dresses are now made in Asia, especially China.

Your best bet is to find a local seamstress who can make dresses for you.  Some will charge $1,500, $2,000, and up for a custom wedding gown, but you may find some seamstresses who have basic gowns they can do for around $500.

I don't know what part of the USA you're in, but there is likely someone near you who can do this.  Check your local yellow pages.  Here are some examples:

    http://susannewmanclothing.com

Also, I found a manufacturer called DCD but cannot find evidence of their factory.  Yet, all their wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses are made in the USA.  Here are some examples of their gowns, sold on amazon.com:

    http://www.amazon.com/Elegant-Spaghetti-...

    http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Spaghetti-...

    http://www.amazon.com/Romantic-Contrast-...

    http://www.amazon.com/Romantic-Spaghetti...

Good luck on your search for locally-made dresses!  I know it's hard to find *anything* these days that's not made in China!
