Sewing machine difficulty

I have a Kenmore sewing machine, model #385
It was working great and then something... I don't know what has made it so my needle gets stuck. It is not actually stuck in any thread etc.... I have taken the bobbin out and put back in... it's something with the needle. However, the needle can only go in one way so I don't know wha tthe problem is. The wheel only moves an inch back and forth when I put the needle in... when I shimmy the needle out the wheel moves with no problems
